ROLL-TO-ROLL VACUUM METALLIZATION
The surfaces are metallized by thermal vacuum deposition. During the metallization process, the surface is sublimed and covered with a thin layer of metal in a low-pressure environment of around 10-4 Torr.
The low pressure (vacuum) allows the metal molecules to move from the evaporation source to the metallized surfaces without any obstacles in the form of air or other gas particles.
Galileo Coating Technologies’ vacuum metallization equipment enables the metallization of rolled materials of any flexible smooth surfaces and appropriate substance, both paper and polymer.
It is important that the materials can be metallized by Al (aluminum) and by Cu (copper), which considerably expands the design solutions for the packaging. When metallizing paper and board materials, color pigment may be added at the final coating stage to achieve a colored metallization effect.
